I am thinking that I might have to get the baygon out and spray that onto a rag and then wipe that around the edge of the dew shield. Making sure not to get too much on but enough to keep them at bay.

No fungi Trevor, just spider webs from actual spiders. Being a remote setup up, only try to get down once a week or once a fortnight just to check the house etc and the observatories. Spiders tend to move in quickly. Time to cover up the optics and spray both observatories with a 3 month kill.
