And unfortunately in both cases very elderly drivers.

Now, please don't take this the wrong way, but as a journo of many years I'm alarmed by the incidence of these types of accidents.

There was also that awful recent case at the Bathurst show. The list goes on, but it demonstrates a very clear and worrying dilemma.

I know this is a very contentious point and I'm aware of the different sides of the argument.

I just feel testing only the eyesight of drivers in their 70s and 80s ... is only one part of the problem... but not the only criteria.

It's an emotive debate. I'm not sure of the solution. I know all age groups have accidents..... but...

Like I said, I'm aware of the many sides of this issue.

Just a thought.
