Yeah, I got a similar thread converter too, I remember getting it from Bintel some years back. It was for another scope (ETX maybe) and they weren't sure it would work. I will have a dig around. I don't think it locked on as securely as the Celestron as mentioned, so I didn't like using it with a lot of weight.

The Meade Mak and Celestron Mak threads are ALMOST interchangeable, but not quite. I believe the Celestron is 1.375" - 24 TPI, while the Meade ETX is 1.38" - 25.4 TPI. Generic Maks and accessories from China and other sources could be either thread (or something different again!)
I'm told that whether an adapter intended for one will fit the other is a matter of luck, depending on how tight the thread tolerances are on both pieces. For example, I have a 90 mm Mak which takes a Celestron adapter perfectly, but a Meade adapter binds after about one turn, and I'm not game to use it because the thread is not properly engaged.
