The math is compelling of course or we would not have given the idea any credibility.
It follows from GR which is rigorosly tested each year really.
I did read somewhere that George Lemaitre was rather happy about his idea because he felt it somewhat closed the gap between science and religion.
I think one of the popes gave it approval on such a basis ...but I can't supply authority so take it as questionable.
Math aside I just can't fathom how all the universe could have come from something supposedly smaller than an atom.
I know energy mass etc but it's one of those things I find difficult to accept or rather understand.
