I read that NGC 55 seems to have three nucleus. An extreme part of the galaxy (east-southeast arm) was named as IC 1537, that is galaxy for Simbad. Others tell about nebulosity inside NGC 55.

For me, it seems to be an active absorption of a dwarf galaxy by NGC 55. Or maybe, as viewed by edge, an arm from spiral shape
