I would like to withdraw my stupid and cynical words.
I was still in a frame of mind resulting from a "follow the money" argument/discussion with a friend yesterday.
It seems there is work going back to 1977 relating to this.
I have been reading all morning but suggest wiki for a start as I found it had a good introduction on the hypothetical axion.
