I had my Mizar 80mm refractor out last night together with a 8" dob looking at the lunar eclipse - before the clouds and rain came in. I don't have a problem with the f/11 refractor when aiming quite high.
On the Mizar K mount, there is a probably a strange looking thing, with a bolt going through it - just on the altitude axis and under the ota mount - I believe that this is the part that clamps onto the axis so if your ota is slipping at high alt's, that might be a little loose. Just a thought anyway - the counterweight idea works too.
