I've not had any issues connecting PHD2, AP, SNP and SGP all at the same time and I'm not using POTH. I can have them all connected to EQASCOM without disconnecting however I always disconnect AP before minimising that window as it seems to hang and won't re-maximise - no problem just putting it in the background though.
