I've never understood that maximum limits in a reflector. The claim is that if you get the exit pupil too big, you'll start seeing the image of the secondary mirror as a partial shadow in the eyepiece view.

Yet I've happily used a 40mm 2" eyepiece in my 14.5" f/4.5 dob, giving an 8.8mm exit pupil - and I couldn't make out any shadow or significant light drop off in the centre of the image.
