I nabbed a couple of shots of the Apollo 11 Command Module Hatch while at the Smithsonian in DC.
The hatch could be opened outward, in just 5 seconds, by pumping the handle to activate a pressurized nitrogen cylinder.
Apollo 1 had two hatches, that took 90 seconds to open. No good if the pure oxygen you're breathing catches fire.
A friend of mine was granted access to the audio recording from that day in '67, recorded inside the Apollo 1 capsule. so so tragic.
