Hi Kevin, your points could open up a whole new discussion. Firstly, not only is my scope at f/5 much faster than your ED 100 at f/9, but it has four times the light gathering ability too. Mine new is around $450, or
$250-300 used, and works just fine at prime focus, unlike many Newts.
Many members say that to use the in camera noise reduction feature
is a waste of precious imaging time. If using an ED 80 or even an ED100,
I would have to agree, but even using the noise reduction feature I can still get more imaging done than an 80 or 100 user can in the same
amount of time. Of course, I could get even more done if I disabled the reduction function, but I don't think SWMBO would be happy with all the
extra time I would spend on the comp.
