If a telescope is stored for long periods in a closed case a rechargeable dessicant pack should be placed in the case with the scope to avoid mould. I prefer to leave scopes ventilated and covered with a cloth in a dry environment, though if you're in the tropics without air-con then a sealed case with dessicant would be preferable.
