Hi , Thats a good image.

The distorted image looks like its due to to non square pixel size of the dv format (I presume its dv) to get the right size view for a computer screen you need to scale the horizontal by 1.09 so a 720 x 576 becomes 787x576. You can also do a check by videoing a perfect circle and then transfering the video to the computer using the same system as you use for imaging. then check the image of the circle If its not a true circle then measure it using something like the measure tool in Gimp and it will give you the correct horizontal scaling factor.

Took me a while to figure this one out too! I hope it fixes your image
