Theft From A Parcel.

Something strange happened to me. I won two second hand arrow rests for my bows on Ebay for $49. The seller in Queensland makes a parcel in an envelope, goes to the Post Office who weighs it, charges him $7.20 and makes a white sticker for that amount which they place on the envelope.

My wife goes to our locked mail box, which has a spring loaded flap that closes after the mail is inserted. Collects the folded up mail from the secure mail box, which includes two other small parcels in envelopes, and brings them in. And what I find when I go through the mail is a big envelope from Queensland, with the side cut open and nothing in it.

To my mind, on the balance of probability, the theft took place in transit.

I've complained to Australia Post, but I suspect I'll have to lodge a claim against the seller who didn't use registered mail.

I also suspect that whoever stole the arrow rests was stealing at random, as most people don't own compound bows.

I think people selling on the classifieds here may be wise to always pay the extra $2.30 or so for registered mail.
Regards,
Renato
