Hi Glen, I live in the blue mountains and I am surrounded by gum trees.I think it doesn't matter how far you are from the trees, the eucalypt oil is in the air and if I am not mistaken, is what gives the mountains its blue hue. I was told by a scope vendor that Technical acetone will clean Eucalypt oil off optical surfaces(can be purchased from chemists and I think Bintel sell it as well.
