The scope (like most vixens at the time) was fitted with a .965 visual back. I am pretty sure most Japanese scopes of the time came with a 36.4mm drawtube. The Japanese also had 36mm eyepieces back then which may have screwed in? to these tubes. Please correct me if I am wrong. If I recall correctly I paid about $20 for my adaptor, so if it can be obtained for around $50 today, then OP should be happy to pay this.

That's the one I'm talking about.
Otherwise I might just have to find a hybrid diagonal. I do have a 45* prism which fits 1.25" eyepieces, but these are derp when trying to view anything much over the horizon.
