Excellent nights viewing at last

Well the moon is about to rise and the eastern sky is starting to lighten up so I have just packed up my 12 inch after a near perfect night of viewing.

I spent most of the night poking around crux paying particular attention to red stars, binary's and clusters. Who doesnt love that little carbon star next to Beta crux (mimosa) ? and... the red and blue stars in the jewel box were just outstanding tonight, does anyone else see a cute little fox from the primary stars of the jewel box? he is looking to the left with his tail vertical. And then there's Omega Centauri, I could resolve millions of stars in it tonight, I started trying to count the brighter one's but what a joke. NGC 3766, 3603, 3590, 3572 and 3496 were all clear and brilliant, Eta carinae was superb too.

All in all, a very stable and clear night with seeing near perfect. Looking forward to Rons on the 29th more than ever now.
