Scott welcome to IIS. I used the same Tasco reflector to observe Halley's Comet. It gave me years of fun. You will love your XX14g though. You don't need a Paracorr, but they are nice to have. Especially if you venture into wider field eyepieces. One thing for sure, if you start using one, you will never be able to observe without it again. Having nice tight stars across the field does look much better.
Bretti is a camping reserve just north of Gloucester. So only a little over 2 hours drive for you. The sky there is very dark, which is good for chasing faint fuzzies.
