DSLR mars

Hi all,

well all previous attempts at imaging mars had resulted in bright blob pulsating violently. so much so that i'd given up on ever getting anything half decent.

set up the scope lastnight in prep for tonight's saturn-moon occultation (clouds predicted so wanted to be aligned) and decided to swing over to mars to check it out. anyway this was the result.

i am fairly stoked actually 12" goto SW, 5x powermate, 2x barlow, canon 600d (full spectrum) with UV/IV clip in, 3x digital zoom, 30fps. i've got a few other videos to process including a couple without the barlow which were probably more suited to the conditions.

will have to reprocess at some stage i really don't know how you guys do it, wavelets / sharpening without over doing it but getting a sharp result. i'd love for someone to have a go at the raw stack file.

registax 6, best 15% frames from ~3.25minute vid, rgb balance, rgb align (handy little function!), wavelets, and photoshop, levels, contrast etc. this is cropped.

cheers

rusty
