You can have your own view but still understand both sides. Great effort by Paul setting up an astro trade platform. In populations as small as Australia or New Zealand there can never be too many platforms to keep the community vibrant especially in a hobby such as this. Chances are that they do not cannibalise but rather complement each other very nicely because they reach overlapping but not identical audiences, as has been pointed out on here.
However my personal decisions on which platform to spend most time and share most information is continuously reviewed and made based on who controls the actual website, not a forum on it or individual threads or groups. In this particular case, it was an Australian who loves astronomy vs an American lunatic who wants to take over the internet and doesn't give a f*** about people's privacy.
