In countries or states without coal reserves solar power is rapidly coming to the fore. In places with coal vested interests are trying to suppress solar but it is still popular because it actually benefits individual householders.
Within a few years it will be cost effective to have solar panels on the roof, battery storage for night time and an electric car charging from your own solar system (no fuel costs, less maintenance). This prospect has the coal and oil companies and electricity generators/distributors quite worried and their buddies in Canberra are trying to support them.
Don't let political bias blind you to what's good for all of us.
