New mounts have a silicon type protectant on them and its very hard to remove , I found that 'Universal paint thinners' works , be careful this type is for 2 pak paints and is very potent .
Any paint supplier will sell you 100 Ml if you ask , use it outside and clean the area a few times and the valcro will stick .
