My first galaxy shots, from IISAC

Folks,

Many thanks to AstroJason for the crash course in operating my little DSLR, and techniques for gathering my first data.

Canon 1100D on el cheapo tripod, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, ISO1600, 30 second exposures, 5 or 6 frames per subject, stacked in DSS. Pretty well cooked in processing, still getting to grips with things. They look best when small like this definitely need more subs...
  1. LMC and SMC, early in the evening
  2. Looking east, Milky Way stretching really close to the horizon
  3. Milky Way overhead - now just realised I should I have turned the camera around
  4. Looking west, Milky Way setting
