I've been powering my 6 port USB hub at 6v ( from a 12v convertor) for the past five years or so....
It adequately handles all my working cameras:
ATik 16ic
ATik 16icS
ATik 314L
SX Lodestar
plus the EQDir connector.
No issues, no drama.
