It's basically the area between the White light and the Ha regions So still all magnetic fields and associated goings on but at a deeper level.The spots are still the cooler regions if you can call them that and often flaring is evident in the CaK areas and Ha but not in the WL.You can also view prominences but they are often much fainter than Ha.On an amateur level you get a bit more detail than White Light but only photographically as we are not that sensitive to near UV especially as we get older.Hope this helps
