Morning Jas,
Motorised focusers are useful for focusing and not bumping the scope.
When you manually focus you have to wait for the vibrations to stop then check focus again.
With a motorised focuser you can change focus remotely (laptop or hand held remote etc) which causes minimal vibration to the scope.
Motorised focusers are extremely advantageous in astrophotography where you can automate the focusing in the software to obtain the optimal focus.
i.e you don't have to manually focus as all and can have a completely remote imaging system.
Motorised focusers are easier to obtain fine adjustment than by hand.
That's a round about way of explaining it but I hope it sheds some light.
