Raymo, I had a look at some old astronomy books I have from when I was a kid (about 20-25 years ago), and true, the pictures in the books by the giant pro telescopes back then were soft by comparison to the ones even I took... totally pale in comparison to some of the amazing Mars pictures posted in the other section.
Pat, you're too kind suggesting that I'm posting in the wrong section, but have you seen some of the images there?
I'm hoping for the weather to clear up in the next week or two so I can go out and give Mars another go, at least one more time before it get too far to expect any great shots and have to wait another 2 years.
