It looks like it belongs

It's not easy to tell, first look, which side of the intensity control is high and low. For these low cost finders, the resistor can be seen, without dismantling, on the starboard side, along the inside of the casing pointing forward.

The unit must be dismantled. The front and back adjustment knobs are very tight. They lock up as designed when reassembling. I needed pliers to hold when undoing - suggest a vice protecting the knurl with a cloth or nylon jaws/protector.
