Graeme, the doco on the CdC site is reasonably current.
http://www.ap-i.net/skychart/en/documentation/start It does refer to version 3.8 and with any luck 3.10 will be out within a couple of weeks.
It's not the simplest program to customise but if you've got any specific questions ask away. I've had years of practice.
