A few from Japan

Hi guys,

Just got back from snowboarding in Japan, also got a few days in Tokyo.

I got a little excited as it wasn't too light polluted at the snowfields and a quick check of Sky Safari confirmed it would be possible to snag M31 soon after dark but it turns out that the night skiing flood lights burned with the intensity of a small Quasar and happened to be in the wrong direction.... Still it was interesting to view the constellations the 'wrong way up' although i had been in the northern hemisphere on many occassions, it was usually a scandinavian summer or a rainy London winter.

Unfortunately i didn't have a tripod, so balancing the canon on my beanie on snow was fairly limiting (for the landscape shots).

I also struggled with the glare / brightness at the snow monkeys - i think a reprocess of the baby monkey play tree is required.

Full size on my flickr page.

Cheers,

Rusty
