Becuase it's only an hour after sunrise, you might want to think about getting out to one of the islands off Cairns (Fitzroy Is.). The Sun will be a fraction higher in the sky and if you were on Fitzroy then you could get up to a high point like the lighthouse and watch the Moon's shadow racing across the water!
The one I'm really hanging out for is the 2028 eclipse. It is happening in July of that year and the length of totality is just over 5 minutes

. As per the map (cool map Vermin!) that eclipse passes through the Kimberly region and because it is in July you can bet on clear skies and dry outback roads. So watch the eclipse then tootle off to see Wolfe Creek Crater.
