Thanks for the comments guys. Constructive feedback is always appreciated. The reason I was unhappy with the colour balance was that it just didn't look right compared to other images I've seen.

Anyway I completely reprocessed it and I'm now much happier with the final version. It's a difficult galaxy to get right though and my light polluted backyard is not the best place to image it.
