That is a very nice wide field shot of the region! Well done.
I have found that the noise reduction software doesn't work that well with this type of wide field shot. It introduces too many artifacts and removes too many stars, so I totally agree with your decision not to use it.
That lens seems to behave fairly well too. A little chromatic aberation but nothing too damaging. I assume that it is not the 18-55mm kit lens as you have said that it is f2.8. Am I correct?
