Time to bite the bullit and just do it!
Get the biggest, best mount you can afford, and a 2nd hand refractor from the classifieds.
You'll learn heaps more (and much faster) from the experience of taking your own pictures and learning the techniques.
Then post your images and ask for some help and feedback from IIS members and your local Astronomy group.
