More non-aurora NEAR Granite Island!
Sorry for repeating what's in an earlier post, this is just in case people don't read that one!:
Well I ventured down south of Adelaide as well in the hope of seeing an amazing aurora last Thursday night. Paul had phoned me earlier in the day to tell me how good it could be (and no I don't blame him for the 'almost' wasted trip! haha). I got there about 8.30 and ended up leaving at 4.30am! With lots of nice aurora-less images though!
Paul was going to Granite Is but I thought The Bluff area just west of there might have good scenery for a foreground, and it did. The image below was taken at Petrel Cove on the west side of The Bluff.
With the waxing gibbous moon it made for some nice foreground shots albeit in detriment to picking up the stars. The first and second images had some very 'special' and 'highly technical' lighting on the foreground rocks and breaking waves.... car headlights as they came over from The Bluff carpark and angled down to the water!
Nikon D600, 14-24mm, images ranged 15-30sec, ISO 1000-2500, f2.8. Very minor processing in CS6 - brightness/contrast and shadows/highlights.
