New Year's night

Hi guys,

Did you know that astronomers never sleep and they actually work on New Year's eves too ? :-) Here is a panoramic image of the night sky above Las Campanas observatory which I captured during the night 31 Dec / 1 Jan. On the foreground one can see two large Magellan telescopes. The red glow on the right is actually not a light pollution - this is airglow of our atmosphere. I used my Canon 6D and Nikkor 14-24.

High-resolution image is available here:

Happy New Year ! :-)

Cheers,
Yuri
