At the feet of Orion (NGC1999)

Hello everyone, after having had it a long time in my to-do list I was eventually able to collect the data (and process them ) of the area around NGC1999, a fantastic area situated below the belt of Orion. The proximity of several popular targets in one of the richest constellations of the sky often makes this tiny nebula overlooked, I hope with this attempt to do some justice to it

The total exposure lasted almost 18 hours through 5 filters (HaLRGB). Interesting is the contrast between the yellow/brown dusts and red and blue gases, an explosion of colors in a rather small area. At the center of the image, the small NGC1999 looks like a dark keyhole for a mysterious cosmic key Highly recommended the full resolution versions! I am also interested in your opinion of which of the two views is the most interesting to keep.

I hope you will like the image(s) and that these could be an incentive for someone with a longer FL to shooting it.

Clear skies
