I told my sister to buy one for her son. he's only 5, so I hope he can manage this easier then say a cheap 50/300 refractor that she was going to buy (with diagonals and barlows etc) would make it confusing for him I said. least I can chuck in some eyepiece doubles that I have as well.
if he stays interested in a few years I'll fork out for a 6" dob for him.
