Bert...just get a bright star centered that is much brighter then any other star....I changed the settings to time take 5000ms calibration steps instead of 1000ms...it will move in all directions once you click calibrate...you dont need to do anything..onced it's done calibration is set...as long as you stay on the same side of the meridian your done...then just push guide and pick click on your guide star....everything will be graphed...very simple and very easy...you can play with other settings but this will get you started.
