Gum 1 and the Seagull

For a bit of fun, I did a couple of hours on this faint emission nebula with my BabyQ/ATIK LE4000 on one pier and my 10" astrograph F3.8 with a SXVR_H16 on another - the BabyQ was using a Baader 8.5nm Ha filter and the 10" using an Astrodon 5nm. Both are roughly similar exposures (after a plane flew through a couple of each) of 8 or 10 x 10 minutes.

This nebula is pretty faint and even with nearly 2 hours, the results are still noisy. But the different image scales do produce different perspectives. The BabyQ works out at about 3.4 as/p whereas the 10"comes in at about 1.6 as/p.

I can't help feeling that Gum 1 looks more like a big old friendly dog smiling broadly.
