I recently sold my orange tube C-8[ I miss it]. The R.A. drive is very
good, having such a large gear. I found getting sick of manually
guiding in Dec. limited my exposure lengths, rather than the R.A.
accuracy. I would double check that it has in fact got 220v motors.
I can't remember whether you can see the label without removing
a motor or not. It's only two screws; in any case it is a good idea to
adjust the gear backlash. In case you don't have the manual for it, you
just loosen both screws and ease the motor in towards the R.A. gear until the motor's small spur gear is lightly contacting it, and nip up the screws. Ditto for the other motor. I tried everywhere I could think of,
including some U.S. used parts dealers, but had no luck finding an
example of either the single or dual axis drive corrector. Mine was 1981
vintage and the optics were still great. Happy imaging.
