Lake Burrumbeet

There seems there are a few old churches within the ballarat area (seems like the only old building still standing on the outskirts of town away from the city lights) and I spotted one near lake burrumbeet so thought I;d see if I could make a nice shot of it. unfortunately it didn't come off as I'd hoped the back of the church (shot 2) which lined up with the view of the milky way wasn't that appealing plus there was alot of road traffic streaking across the shot and the front of the church pretty much faced due north (shot 3) and didnt have alot of sky interest at that time of night.

So I ended up "free lancing" at lake burrumbeet not something I normally do, normally I have an idea of what I'm shooting and what direction I'll be facing etc however with Venus in the central bulge of the milky way I thought I might get some nice reflections as it was a still night. Lucky I was still within mobile range and managed to find a couple of lake access rds so I this is how I came about shot 1 the light on the reeds is from the caravan park.
The 4th shot came from a second access road which looks to have access to the lake front, what google maps didnt tell me was that there was a fairly steep incline I tried some shots higher up and they didnt work as well I managed to spot this tree in the lower level of the initial shots here and managed to scurry down the hill to get the shot framed around it.

All shots have just had some quick post work to reduce noise, increase curves etc

Shot 1 - Canon 6D 14mm f2.8, ISO 6400 for 25 seconds
Shot 2 - Canon 6D 14mm f2.8, ISO 3200 for 20 seconds foreground lit with LED light
Shot 3 - Canon 6D 14mm f2.8, ISO 6400 for 25 seconds
Shot 4 - Canon 6D 14mm f2.8, ISO 6400 for 25 seconds foreground lit with LED light

Let me know what you think

Cheers

Matt
