Great photo! Love the horsehead, that's where predator is from I've heard this object is quite dim, have people here seen it and made out the "head" shape? What kind of gear do you need? Would a 12" under dark skies resolve it?

To merely "see" B33, you will need a dark site and a large telescope, and to resolve it as a "horsehead" requires proper (H-Beta) filtering. Our drawing of the Horsehead at left was rendered with a 20-inch Dob at a very dark site. To observe this object as it appears in published black and white astrophotos, you'd need a minimum aperture size of over 30 inches.
