Interesting, but not very elegant when compared to the JMI focuser, which has a tiny motor build in. I would expect the rubber band will degrade over time and probably stretch, which is what I would be worried about, particularly if they are anything like the rubber on focus knobs, which perished over time.
Anyway, I use the JMI because of their discrete motors.

The EV 1 cm would be a better focuser, I would expect, but then, it is more expensive.
