I thought the visual effects were out of this world. Try to find an article about how it was made. Seems the entire film was made without the actors, including the music and all sound effects using models for the actors. The actors were filmed hanging from wires in a totally black tank where they had to recreate every move made in the first filming by the "models." This was so difficult that both the director and Sandra B. said they would never take on a project like this again. I think this film should win every award for special effects. Really worth it even though the story is pretty contrived and unbelievable. The effects are so good it really hardly matters. I found the 3D quite good...much unlike a lot of films where the 3D hits you in the face. This was pretty subtle and after a little bit you never think about it, but it sure adds to the overall impression.
