With the aid of folk who responded to my query both publicly & privately as well as the person who sold me the scope I have resolved the issue.
It simply seems to be that these particular EPs just don't work well in the current 1.25" adapter.
The fix is, either a 1.25" diagonal or, low/ultra low profile adapter. Currently looking for same - please see my wanted ad.
