Glad you had a nice trip, the weather though has been quite strange from Geraldton and below so it is not normal to get such bad weather this time of the year.
The only dis-advantage is the long drives needed to get from one location to the next.
You were only an extra 4 hours drive from the ASKAP location as well, just a hop and a skip and a hell of a jump.
