Indeed. Sloppy code is almost the norm these days. It's no coincidence that many off the retired science team from Voyager ( now in interstellar space
) had to be consulted to get its teeny but still useful systems to still phone home.
BTW... For speedy execution Losmandy Gemini system was programmed in Assembler
