Explore Scientific 40mm

Explore Scientific 40mm, 68 degree widefield, 2 inch barrel eyepiece. Has around 31mm eye relief and a soft/comfortable fold-down rubber eyecup.

The eyepiece is Argon-purged and waterproof. It's a marvelous eyepiece - beautiful detail and clarity, and I'm sorry to part with it - but I'm simply not using it enough to justify the substantial investment. And I have too many 40mm eyepieces (4 at last count), so some must go!

The ES 40mm is around 9 months old and hardly used. It's in brand new condition. Comes in original box (foam lined) with both end caps and a bolt case. Asking price is $230 including postage Australia-wide. (Delivered cost for a retail one would be around $320, at the current exchange rate, so that's quite a saving - about 30%).

See photos.

Addendum:

I personally rate this as the best of my 40-ish mm eyepieces, but I don't use the F/L all that much and it doesn't fit in my eyepiece case, which means I keep forgetting to take it with me. For my viewing, the TMB (which is close, but not quite as sharp) is "good enough" and it's in my eyepiece case, so it's always handy.

I commented on 40mm eyepiece performance in this thread, long before any thought of selling, so you can see my raw opinion.

If it doesn't sell at this price, I'll keep it for special occasions.
