Something looks a little strange though, there is a distinct glow in the background between the glob stars in a distinct circle shape but this glow seems to abruptly finish and then the outer area of the image has a dark sky between the stars  Do you understand what I am saying? While this makes the glob look bigger, is it real?

Hi Mike, well, mmm

I don't get you this time mate. I cannot see any glow, halo or whatever you are talking about. There is still some chroma to be removed on the background that is not in the center (with much higher s/n) that *may* give a strange perception (I didn't remove the chroma noise from the background), apart from that, cannot see any "distinct circle shape" that "abruptly finish"..

I believe what you refer to is indeed the chroma noise of background that is "covered" by the higher brightness and s/n of the globular cluster..
Can you elaborate a bit better?
